Former University of Arizona women’s basketball player Candice Warthen has signed her first professional contract. The Wildcat grad will join Finland’s Forssan Alku the club announced on Monday.

“I am very blessed to be able to continue to play the game that I love at the professional level,” Warthen said. “This is just an amazing feeling and I can’t wait to get back on the court with my new team.”

Warthen averaged nearly 13 points, three assists and one steal during her senior campaign in Tucson. She also led the team in free Former Wildcat throws and field goals made, defensive rebounding, and minutes played.

A Georgia-native, Warthen led the Wildcats in scoring in 17 of their 30 games this past season. She ranks 16th all-time on the UofA scoring list with 1,128 career points. Her career-high 36 points in 2011 is the second-best single game effort in program history.

Warthen also made one of the most iconic shots in Arizona women’s basketball history Former Wildcat when she delivered a game-winner against #12 Stanford on February 8, 2015. It was the Cats first win over the Cardinal since 2004.

Warthen joins a Forssan Alku squad that finished sixth in the league a year ago, including securing a berth in the postseason.
