American Lele Hardy (182-G/F-88) had a very impressive game in the last round for league’s second-best Haukar and that’s her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 15.
The 25-year old swingman had a double-double of 40 points and twenty four rebounds, while her team outclassed Keflavik (10-5) with 26-point margin 85-59. The game was between two of the league’s top four teams. Haukar is placed at 2nd position in Icelandic Dominos League. They would have been even better if they hadn’t lost a few games earlier this season. Haukar will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. In the team’s last game Hardy had a remarkable 54.2% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. She turned to be Haukar’s top player in her first season with the team. Clemson Universityarrow graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hardy is league’s best scorer averaging so far 30.3ppg and leads league in rebounds with 20.7rpg. Hardy is in league’s top in assists (2nd best: 5.9apg) and averages solid 1.1bpg and 5.1spg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 25-year old American guardNikitta Gartrell (175-G-88) of Njardvik. Gartrell impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 16 rebounds. It was enough for Njardvik to edge slightly higher-ranked Hamar (#6, 6-9) by 3 points 63-60. Despite this victory they still are dead at the bottom. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Njardvik managed to get this year. Gartrell is a newcomer at Njardvik and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team’s leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Bianca Lutley (180-G-91, agency: Merit Management Group) of Grindavik (#7). Lutley showcased her all-around game by recording 29 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the last round. Despite Lutley’s great performance Grindavik lost 83-97 to the higher-ranked Snaefell (#1, 12-3). But her team cannot count on just a single shooter as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Grindavik ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Lutley could help Grindavik to bring them higher in the standings. The season just started for Lutley as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be team’s leader.
