Sydney Colson signs with WNBA-San Antonio

One of Texas A&M’s all-time greats, Sydney Colson, has joined the WNBA-San Antonio Stars. Colson was the starting point guard on the Aggies’ 2011 NCAA Championship squad.

Colson had her best season during her senior year, the 2010-11 National Championship season. She led the conference and ranked in the top 10 nationally with 6.1 assists per game. She finished the season with 221 assists, which still ranks second on A&M’s single season assist chart. She still ranks fourth all-time in A&M’s career assists (504) and steals (255). She was an honorable mention All-America and all-conference selection her senior year.

Colson, a Houston, Texas native, finished her four-year career with 853 points, 504 assists and 255 steals over 138 games. She posted over 100 assists in her final three seasons, which were her three seasons as the Aggies’ starting point guard.

She was a part of Texas A&M’s two most successful NCAA Tournament runs, helping the Aggies to the Elite Eight as a freshman in 2007-08, and the National Championship in 2010-11. While at A&M, her teams went an astounding 115-29.

Since graduating, Colson played for the New York Liberty in the WNBA, and played professionally in Poland.
